NEW
ALBUM: 'DUETS' November
15,
2011
Tim and Nicki Bluhm have recorded an 8-song limited CD
EP called Duets. The
duo blends the honky tonk harmonies of California country
with West Coast folk and acoustic Americana, interlaced
with vocal nuances and an emotional intimacy that inspire
pin-drop attention. Duets features
six original songs co-written by the Bluhms, plus two covers: “Running
Wild” by Ray Edenton and Donny Winters; and “Reno,
Nevada” by Richard Fariña. The
couple recorded the songs at their San Francisco studio,
Mission Bells, with producer Dan Prothero (Tim’s
solo album California Way, Galactic, JJ Grey & Mofro).
“Duets sounds like a smile,” says Nicki. “Duets is
a collection of songs from the past and of the present. Its
simplicity and authenticity captures an era forgotten while
being fresh and new. These are songs filled
with love, character and charm that you can hear on every
track.”
It is available via here,
iTunes, and Amazon and at shows. Visit

BROKEDOWN
IN BAKERSFIELD July
12,
2011
Forming
as a one-off project at High Sierra Music Festival in July,
Tim Bluhm, Nicki Bluhm, and ALO members, Lebo, Steve Adams,
and Dave Brogan, along with guitarist Scott Law and keyboardist
Steve Taylor, joined forces to pay tribute to the legends
of Bakersfield, California performing songs from Buck Owens,
Gram Parsons, Merle Haggard and others. Brokedown
In Bakersfield proved to be too fun for a one-off
performance, and the band is scheduled to play two shows
in Tahoe this week at the Crystal
Bay Casino on Wednesday and Thursday,
July 13th and 14th. Go check 'em out! Here's
a taste of what went down with Brokedown in
Bakersfield at High Sierra in Quincy, CA on July 1st. The
band powers through a Gram Parsons song entitled "Luxury
Liner" also made famous by Emmylou Harris. |

THE
NEW ALBUM: 'DRIFTWOOD' OUT NOW February
1,
2011
The new
album 'Driftwood' is available on CD
and for download at nickibluhm.com as
well as iTunes and
all major digital distribution retailers. Here's what the
press has to say about it:
“Part
Karen Carpenter and Part Grace Slick, Bluhm’s
voice moves effortlessly between softer, country
tinged balladry and retro 60’s/70’s rock.” -No
Depression
"Golden. ... instantly announces a new voice on
the Americana scene."
- SF Chronicle
"...cements Bluhm’s
place as one of the best women in rock today. Driftwood is
seriously addictive and has such a well-crafted,
easy glide and end-to-end craftsmanship that it’s
hard to imagine someone not diggin’ it."
- Dirty Impound
"Driftwood is an
album one leaves on repeat because one spin simply won’t
do. It’s the kind of record one sings along to,
perhaps a little too loudly for polite company, and pushes
into the hands of friends because it’s so bloody
satisfying." - Jambase
